Saskatchewan Science Centre’s “Building Connections” exhibition just won a CASCADE Award from the Canadian Association of Science Centres (CASC).  The CASCADES recognize outstanding achievement by both individuals and organizations Canada-wide:

“Building Connections”, a new permanent exhibition at the Saskatchewan Science Centre, was awarded Best Exhibit or Show – Small Institution for bringing together three themes: designing a complete community, building a house and powering a province.”

Why am I telling you this?

Because, I was the researcher and writer on the Blue Rhino Design team that developed and produced that exhibition. I blogged about it in January.

I was responsible for all of the interpretive content. I researched and wrote more than 50 panels, labels, interactive screens, and all of the instructional material for the exhibition. Working closely with Blue Rhino’s design team and the Science Centre’s exhibition team, I helped develop the storylines and messaging for the exhibits.

Of course, my work was only a small piece of the enormous amount of planning and effort it takes to bring an exhibit from concept to grand opening. This award is a testament to the teamwork put in by the SSC in-house folks, the Blue Rhino design and development team, the digital interactives developers, the fabricators, and the installers.

Congratulations everyone for a job well done!
